# Photo requirements

> When photos are mandatory.

Enforced at publish time. A listing that fails these rules is never posted, so
there is nothing to remove afterwards.

## Settings

## Require photos

**Never** requires nothing. **Always** requires photos on every item. **Above a
value** requires them on items priced at or above the threshold.

Turning any of these on applies to new listings only. Existing posts are untouched.

## Trade-only items need photos too

An item with no asking price has no value for the threshold to compare, so this
setting decides it.

  With **Allow asking prices** off, no item has a price, so this setting governs
  every item in the subreddit.

That combination is worth checking: "Above a value" with this off, in a trade-only
subreddit, requires photos on nothing.

## Notes

* Photos are uploaded through the app and hosted by Reddit, so upload time is
  recorded server-side. It proves recency, not possession.
* Set **Photos per item** to 2 to require the item plus a timestamp shot.
* The cap of 8 is fixed.
* **Every photo on a listing is sent to Reddit with the post**, whatever the item
  count, so all of it goes through Reddit's own review. The plain-text body names
  the first forty and then says how many more there are, which keeps a bulk lot's
  links from crowding out the item descriptions automod reads.
