# Troubleshooting

> Symptoms a trader actually sees, and what is behind each one.

## Inventory

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="I re-imported my export and now I have everything twice">
    Import only ever creates. Delete the duplicates.
    [Why](/traders/import-export).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Some rows were refused and the rest went in">
    Expected. The report hands the refused rows back for pasting straight back
    after a fix. [The commonest
    causes](/traders/import-export#when-a-row-is-refused).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Every row failed on the condition column">
    Only your subreddit's current list is accepted, and a separator matters:
    `Like New` and `LikeNew` are two different conditions.
    [Condition](/traders/import-export#condition).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My import stopped part way through">
    What was created stays created, and the report hands back the rest. [Read it
    carefully first](/traders/import-export#when-a-row-is-refused): one case
    leaves rows that may exist after all.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I cannot add any more items">
    You are at your subreddit's cap. Delete something, starting with the Traded
    tab. [The cap](/traders/inventory#how-many-you-can-hold).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="An item shows as pending and I cannot change it">
    An open trade is holding it, and only the trade resolving releases it. One
    stranded on a trade that no longer exists is freed by an hourly sweep.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I deleted an item and it is still on my listing">
    The listing keeps its own copy. Delete the post itself to remove it.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I marked an item traded and an old post still offers it">
    It should show as traded there. A post already open in somebody's browser
    keeps what it loaded.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My condition wording changed">
    Your moderators re-worded the list. An item keeps the condition it was saved
    with and still shows it. Editing the item lets you pick from the current list.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Add item stopped working">
    Where the app cannot read your subreddit's settings it refuses to act on
    guesses, so publishing, offers and adding items stop together. It clears on
    its own.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Publishing

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Reddit asked whether the app can post as me">
    That is how the post ends up under your name rather than the app's. Refusing
    cancels the publish. [The sequence](/traders/publishing#the-sequence).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The button says Photos needed">
    Your subreddit requires photos on some or all items. The rows that need them
    are named under the button, and you can add photos without leaving the
    composer.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The button says Max N per listing">
    Untick some. The chip at the top of the composer counts you against the cap.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My region will not save, or will not publish">
    A region always saves. Publishing is where the format is enforced. The
    details step checks the box as you type and shows the shapes your subreddit
    accepts, so nothing you typed is lost to a rejected region. Your moderators
    may have changed the format.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The title is not what I expected">
    Reddit caps a title at 300 characters. Wants are shortened first, then items
    become `+N more`. Nothing is lost: the body carries both lists in full. [How
    the title is built](/traders/publishing#the-title).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I lost my ticked items">
    Leaving the composer discards the selection. Add a missing item from inside
    it.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I want to take my listing down">
    Delete the post on Reddit, or mark the items traded. Deleting also erases its
    offers and its trades. [Taking a listing
    down](/traders/publishing#editing-and-taking-down-a-listing).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I am refused on a rule my subreddit did not set">
    Settings take about a minute to reach the app, and the composer can show the
    older rules while the server judges by the newer ones. Close the hub and
    reopen it.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Offers

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="It says I already have an offer on this listing">
    One open offer per listing. Withdraw the one you have, then make another.
    [One at a time](/traders/offers#one-offer-at-a-time).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The Counter button is gone">
    Three reasons, and the app says which: six rounds used, not your move, or the
    offer is resolved. Accept, decline and retract still work.
    [Countering](/traders/offers#countering).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I cannot retract my offer">
    It has been accepted. The way out is backing out of the trade.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="An offer disappeared from my inbox">
    The comment behind it was deleted, or removed, which counts as the same
    thing. Approving it back does not restore the offer. Offers also expire at 30
    days. [The warning](/traders/offers#notes).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I cannot add their items to my counter">
    Either your subreddit keeps inventories private, or they have nothing on a
    live listing post right now. Only posted items can be added, because anything
    you are shown of somebody else's has to be something they published. A lister
    countering can always drop staked items, whichever it is.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My offer posted but is not in their inbox">
    The comment went up and the app's copy did not. The offer is real and visible
    in the thread. **Do not post it again.**
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="There is no cash field">
    Your subreddit has asking prices switched off, which removes prices and cash
    everywhere.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Trades

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="My trade closed itself">
    It passed its deadline with steps outstanding. Both sides' items were freed
    and a notice went in the thread. [The
    deadline](/traders/trades#the-deadline).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The Back out button is gone">
    Somebody has marked their half sent. Once goods are moving the trade runs to
    its deadline instead.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="We both confirmed and my flair did not change">
    Your subreddit may not write flair at all, or may use its own bot, in which
    case there is a button to post the line it reads. Trade Post keeps its own
    count either way. [The three modes](/moderators/flair).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The confirmation button is not there">
    It appears only where your subreddit runs its own bot and has named it, and
    only for 14 days after the trade resolves.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My items were marked traded when the trade closed">
    An item you marked sent stays traded, because it left. Anything not sent goes
    back to available.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I cannot find where to save my address">
    Trade Post no longer stores shipping addresses or payment handles of any
    kind, so there is nowhere to save one. **Message** on the trade card opens
    Reddit's composer with the trade already filled in. [Messaging the other
    trader](/traders/trades#messaging-the-other-trader).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why can the app not just keep my shipping details">
    Reddit's app review does not permit it. Storing a shipping address or a
    payment handle makes Trade Post a holder of personal information, and the
    feature was removed rather than kept under a narrower rule. [What is
    kept](/traders/what-we-keep).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My saved details are gone">
    The feature was removed. Nothing in the app can read what was saved, and each
    record deletes itself within 90 days of its last use. [Privacy
    policy](/privacy).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The Message button took me out of the app">
    That is Reddit's own message composer, prefilled with the listing and a link
    to the thread. Nothing you type there passes through Trade Post.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The reply did not post but the trade moved">
    The trade is recorded and the comment is not. Say so in the thread. **Do not
    press the button again.**
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Everything else

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="A comment came from the app's account instead of mine">
    The action still counted. Where a subreddit's bot reads that comment it will
    credit the app's account, so say so in the thread.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Tapping a username does nothing">
    Your subreddit keeps inventories private.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Their shelf is empty but I know they have items">
    That screen shows only what they have on a live listing post, not everything
    they hold. Listing posts expire after 90 days, so a trader who has not posted
    recently shows nothing. [Seeing another trader's
    items](/traders/inventory#seeing-another-traders-items).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My tracking number was refused">
    Letters, digits, spaces and hyphens only. The field is for a tracking number,
    not a note to the other side; use **Message** for that.
    [Tracking](/traders/trades#tracking).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I edited an item and the listing body did not change">
    The body rewrite is best-effort and can fail quietly. What the post shows in
    the app is always current; only the plain-text body that old Reddit and
    automod read can lag. Editing the item again retries it.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I cannot report my own listing">
    There is no Report on your own post or comment. Delete it on Reddit instead,
    which does more than a report would. [Reporting](/traders/reporting).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My data is gone">
    Almost everything expires, the shortest at 30 days. [The full
    table](/traders/what-we-keep).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="A changed setting has not taken effect">
    About a minute, subreddit-wide. A hub already open keeps the rules it opened
    with, so close it and reopen it. Reloading does not help.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Nothing tells me an offer arrived">
    There are no notifications. The hub badges its tabs while it is open, and the
    replies the app posts land in your Reddit inbox.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Still stuck

Anything on this page that did not match, or a message the app gave you that is not
here: [Getting help](/support). Rules, removals and bans are the subreddit's, not
Trade Post's, so those go to its moderators.
