# What is kept, and for how long

> Every record in your workspace and when it expires.

Reddit holds the durable version of everything that matters to you. Your listing
is a post, your negotiation is a comment thread, your confirmation is a comment,
your trade count is your flair. All of that stays as long as Reddit keeps it.

What expires is the working copy behind them. The [privacy policy](/privacy) is
authoritative; this page is the same facts for somebody using the app.

## What expires when

**Rolling** restarts every time the record is used. **Fixed** is set once and
never extended, so an offer expires 30 days after it was made however active the
negotiation was.

**You get no warning.** Records go quietly when their clock runs out.

## What your subreddit controls

Only the two item windows, and both have a 90-day floor. **An item you touched in
the last 90 days is always still there.** Everything else in the table is the same
in every subreddit.

Moderators can also switch off whether back-outs and ghosts are recorded at all.

## The clock on an item

Touched means edited, listed, or marked traded. Not when you added it.

An item in an open trade is never deleted at any age.

Deletion runs on an hourly sweep rather than the moment a clock expires, so an
item outlives its window by a little. In a large subreddit a full pass takes
several runs.

## What does not expire

* **Everything on Reddit.** Your posts, your comments, your flair.
* **The monthly trade log.** A moderators-only wiki page in your subreddit,
  holding ids, a date, an outcome and a link to the thread. No item names, no
  addresses, no prose.

## What goes sooner than its clock

* **Deleting your listing post erases its Trade Post record, its offers and its
  trades.** Delete it only when you are done with the negotiations under it.
* **A deleted offer comment takes the offer with it**, and a removal counts as a
  deletion. See [Offers](/traders/offers#notes).
* **Anything you delete yourself**, which is immediate rather than swept.

## If you delete your Reddit account

Reddit gives no signal when an account is deleted, so Trade Post checks and
purges after a waiting period. It erases your items, your want list, your trade
count, and your offer and trade indexes.

Two things survive:

1. **Records of trades and offers you were in.** They carry your Reddit user id
   and none of your content, and they expire on their own at 45 and 30 days.
2. **Lines in the monthly trade log**, which live in the subreddit's wiki rather
   than in the app.

Neither holds an address, a payment handle, or a phone number, because Trade Post
does not store one.

## Notes

* **Storage is separate in every subreddit.** Saving something in one community
  does not carry it to another, and moderators of one subreddit cannot see
  another's.
* **There is no public reputation score and no searchable trade history.** Your
  inventory is private and your trade history is not on display.
* **Nothing is sold, shared with advertisers, or used to train anything.**
* **Trade Post does not store shipping addresses or payment handles.** There is
  nowhere in the app to save one. Traders exchange them in Reddit messages, which
  Trade Post never sees. [Messaging the other
