Reddit holds the durable version of everything that matters: the listing is a post, the negotiation is a comment thread, the confirmation is a comment, the trade count is flair. Trade Post keeps the working copy. The privacy policy is authoritative for traders. This page is the same facts for setting a retention policy. Rolling restarts on every use, so active records stay and idle ones age out. Fixed is set once and never extended. The two configurable windows are on the inventory page and both have a 90-day floor.

Why the ledger persists

Everything above expires, so the ledger is the only record that outlives its subject. It can, because it stores no content: ids, an outcome and a permalink to a comment Reddit keeps anyway. This is what makes Rebuild trade counts possible.

Deletion you do not configure

  • A deleted Reddit account’s data is removed: items, want list, saved details, trade count. Reddit gives no signal, so Trade Post checks and purges after a waiting period.
  • Deleting a listing post erases its record, its offers and its trades.
Removing a comment is treated as deleting it. Approving a removed offer comment back does not return the offer to the lister’s inbox. Prefer a reply over a removal on offer comments you may want to keep.

Never stored

  • No cross-subreddit history. Storage is separate in every community, and moderators of one subreddit cannot see another’s.
  • No trust graph, scoring or counterparty weighting.
  • Nothing sold, shared with advertisers, or used for training.
