Last updated: 2 September 2026. These terms cover the Trade Post app for Reddit. Reddit’s User Agreement applies to your Reddit account and to everything you post. These terms are in addition to it, not instead of it.

What Trade Post is

An app for buy/sell/trade subreddits. It gives you a private workspace inside a subreddit, holding a list of what you have to trade, an inbox for offers, and a record of trades in progress, and it turns your listings and offers into real Reddit posts and comments made under your own account. It is built and operated by Collin Makohon as an independent Reddit developer. It is not operated by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Reddit.

Trade Post is not a party to your trades

Trade Post is a record-keeping and messaging tool. It does not handle money, hold goods, escrow anything, verify anybody’s identity, or vouch for any trader, item, price, photograph or claim. Every trade is between you and the other person. Trade Post records what the two of you say happened. It has no way to know what was in the parcel, whether it arrived, or whether the payment cleared. It knows only that somebody pressed a button. So:
  • Trade Post gives no warranty about the other party, the goods, or the outcome.
  • Trade Post is not responsible for loss, damage, non-delivery, fraud, or a dispute between traders.
  • Disputes are between the two of you, and then for your subreddit’s moderators and Reddit’s own processes. Trade Post’s records may help; they are not a ruling.
  • Trade Post does not provide insurance, buyer protection, or a refund mechanism, and does not replace using a payment method that has its own.

Using it

You agree that you will:
  • Follow Reddit’s User Agreement, Reddit Rules, and the rules of the subreddit you are using the app in.
  • Describe your items honestly, and use your own photographs.
  • Not use the app to arrange anything Reddit or the law prohibits.
  • Not impersonate anyone, scrape the app, or try to reach data belonging to other traders.
  • Not put card numbers, bank or routing numbers, or national ID numbers into the app. There is nowhere they would be used.
Moderators configure how Trade Post behaves in their subreddit: the listing format, whether prices are shown, how long a trade may sit before silence counts as ghosting. Those settings are the subreddit’s to make.

Content you post

Everything you write in Trade Post that another trader can see is published to Reddit under your own account: your items reach other people as a listing post, and your offers and replies as comments. You own that content, the same as anything else you post on Reddit, and you can delete it on Reddit at any time. Anyone who can see it can report it to the subreddit’s moderators, and there is a Report button in the app for doing so. Trade Post does not review, moderate or remove content itself. Moderators and Reddit do that, under their own rules. Items you have not published are visible only to you.

Details another trader sends you

Trade Post does not store shipping addresses or payment handles. Traders exchange them in Reddit messages, and Message on a trade card opens Reddit’s composer to start one. When another trader sends you their address or a payment handle, they are giving it to you for that trade. Use it for that and nothing else. Do not post it, repeat it, keep it after it is needed, or use it to contact that person outside the trade. Doing so violates these terms and, in most cases, Reddit’s rules about sharing personal information, which can get your Reddit account actioned regardless of anything this app does. Trade Post never sees the message and holds no copy of anything in it. There is nothing for the app to withdraw on the sender’s behalf, which is why the obligation above is entirely on you.

Availability

Trade Post is provided as-is and free of charge. There is no uptime guarantee. It may change, break, or stop working. Its moderators may remove it from a subreddit, and Reddit may suspend it, at any time. Records inside the app expire on the schedule in the Privacy Policy, some in 30 days and some in 180. Trade Post is not a backup. If you need a permanent record of your inventory, use the app’s export, which gives you the whole thing as a spreadsheet.

Your content

You keep everything you own. Posts and comments made through the app are yours, made under your account, and governed by Reddit’s terms. By using the app you grant permission for it to store and display your content as necessary to run it: showing your listing to the subreddit, and showing an offer to the person it is addressed to.

Ending it

You can stop using Trade Post at any time. Delete your items and stop opening the hub. Deleting your Reddit account triggers an automatic cleanup, described in the Privacy Policy.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Trade Post and its developer are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the app, or from any trade arranged through it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes

If these terms change materially, the date at the top changes and the app’s release notes will say so. Continuing to use the app after a change means the updated terms apply.
